Oscar-winning actor Robin Williams took a proactive move on his continued sobriety, checking himself into a Minnesota addiction treatment center recently for a sobriety check.
Williams, who has fought alcoholism since the 1980s as well as cocaine, entered an alcohol rehab center in 2006 because of a relapse after he had been sober for 20 years,
reported the Huffington Post. The star's representative told the media he entered the Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center in Lindstrom to maintain his sobriety.
"After working back-to-back projects, Robin is simply taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud,"
a representative of Williams told celebrity website TMZ.

Williams was the lead in the CBS television series "The Crazy Ones," which started with strong ratings before it was canceled by the network in May. He is set to co-star in the Ben Stiller movie "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" in December and a "Mrs. Doubtfire" sequel scheduled for next year.
Williams said on "Good Morning America" in 2006 that the biggest challenge for him or for anyone struggling with addiction is realizing that you have a problem and that you need help.
"But you can't (do it by yourself)," Williams said then. "That's the bottom line. You really think you can, then you realize, I need help, and that's the word. … It's hard admitting it, then once you've done that, it's real easy. You think people don't notice. Then you find out later, 'We knew. … You went outside naked.' No, I didn't. But even the dog was like, 'What's wrong, boy?' Humiliation gives you humility."
Williams, who reached stardom during the 1980s sitcom "Mork & Mindy" and won an Academy Award for his role in "Good Will Hunting" in 1998, told
People in 2006 that his family and the death of John Belushi made him get clean then.
"The Belushi tragedy was frightening,'' Williams told People. "His death scared a whole group of show business people. It caused a big exodus from drugs. And for me there was the baby coming. I knew I couldn't be a father and live that sort of life."
